MAMMALS AS PHOTOGRAPHED BY GERARD PAS |
The thing about photographing mammals is that while living in the most densely populated area of Canada there are not many to photograph other than those creatures which have learned to cohabitate with Human Beings in urban and rural environments or those held captive behind fences and glass. For the most part photographing large mammals is the play ground of those who have more disposable income than a living Canadian artist. While Canada has great herds and a multitude of wild animals they are located in true wilderness far removed from Gerard’s home in South Western Ontario, Canada. Unlike birds which migrate over all of us no matter where we might live mammals move in distant areas of our far north. This is not to say that we do not have a diversity of beautiful creatures that are accessible in our National Parks but these to have become timid and reluctant to reveal themselves to us as we have historically and still provide a clear and present danger to them. |
