The Wild Flowers Song
As
I wanderd the forest
The green leaves among
I heard a wild flower
Singing a Song
I
slept in the earth
in the silent night
I murmurd my fears
And I felt delight
In
the morning I went
As rosy as morn
To seek for new Joy
But I met with scorn

I just love flowers. They have taught me about creation, the value of life and through them I’ve discovered insects, birds and wildlife.
Flowers have always been in my life as my dad Martin Pas was not only an avid home gardener but he was a professional landscaper, greenhouse keeper and grew many shrubs and trees. Flowers have played such a large role in all the pivotal stages of my life. The painting to the left of “Maria’s Flowers” was painted for my wife, Maria Abusow-Pas, two years before we were married. Being a Dutch-Canadian family my mother Nicolette (Lettie) Pas always had fresh cut flowers in her/our house throughout the seasons, as is custom in The Netherlands - I always enjoyed visiting her in her home filled with wonderful flowers and I miss her very much. I have been surrounded by flowers all my life.
As an artist I began my career photographing performance, documentation of activities, and portraits of other artists; many of those photographs have been exhibited around the world (see 1970’s and 1980’s galleries by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page). As a photographer I returned to flowers in a time of despondency during the mid-2000's and they elevated me above the din to see the joy of life again. I love photographing flowers and always will.
My favourite method of photographing flowers is by utilizing the Macro Lens, although I will also point my long telephoto prime lens and capture the flowers I see on my journeys in the wild but macro remains my favourite tool when it comes to plants, blooms, buds and insects.
I hope you enjoy my flower images as much as I do in taking them. Every flower I see makes me want to give thanks to God in praise, I love flowers.
