SONGBIRDS AS PHOTOGRAPHED BY GERARD PAS |
Songbirds also called Passerines are an order of bird that comprise as many as 4,000 species or nearly half of the world’s birds in 35 to 55 families. Essentially songbirds are birds that perch in trees. There is archaeological evidence that songbirds evolved some 50 million years ago. This bird gets its name because its song is used to mark territory, identity, whereabouts, and also its sexual intentions. Although many songbirds have pleasant songs to the human ear, such as Nightingales or Warblers some species songs sound more distinctly like screeches or crooks like that of the crow. |
