BIRDS OF PREY / PREDATORS AS PHOTOGRAPHED BY GERARD PAS

Birds of prey are generally birds that eat other living creatures and hunt for their food on the wing in flight. These birds use their keen senses, particularly their sense of vision which is considered three times more powerful than our human eyes. Many of these birds can hunt by night as they can see in the dark and they also see in colour. Many of these birds like the Owl also have an exceptional sense of hearing to assist in searching out their prey.
Birds of prey have sharp talons and beaks that tend to be comparatively large, powerful and adapted for piercing flesh and ripping flesh. Birds of prey can range in size from a small 1 ½ ounce Owl to a 15 kilo male Andean Condor with a 3 metre wingspan.
Birds of prey are also best known for their amazing ability to fly and are a wonder to behold in flight or while hunting.
