Un chat Londres - N’est PaS Un Chien Andalou | by Gerard Pas |
This is small series of 2 photos. It’s an answer or my reaction to the film “Un Chien Andalou“ by the Spanish director Luis Buñuel and artist Salvador Dalí. I have a phobia about hurting my eyes and always found the scene with Simone Mareuil's eye being held open by Luis Buñuel in the opening scene and later cut by straight razor a very disturbing look away moment; I still can’t really look it. If art is indeed catharsis this is my attempt at healing from that grating ‘dog’ movie. I thought I needed to paradigm shift the title to something more regional and becoming of Vanessa’s youthful beauty; thus “A London Cat”. Being from London where most of our murders are by knife, I also thought the Smith and Weston – Pocket Protector Knife added a more home based regional interest than a straight razor; who uses those things anymore anyway. |
