A DREAM MEMORY OF THE BRACE | REVISITED by Gerard Pas
This work was originally created by me in 1977 as a series of 20 B&W Polaroid 107 Instants and printed as large contact prints.
They have been exhibited, published and collected around the world.

As an infant I contracted Polio. Up until my mid teens I wore a metal brace on my leg. This series attempts to convey my sentiments towards that period of my life. The rulers representing the measurable difference between my legs and the clamps the pressure I felt in wearing such a leg brace in society.
