London Regional Art and Historical Museum

Words from the Director

The London Regional Art and Historical Museum is very pleased to be presenting the exhibition "hEaVEn n eARTh", featuring the art works of London / New York artist Gerard Pas from 1996 to 2001. And we are doubly pleased to be presenting this accompanying publication as an on-line web project, a first for our museum.

Gerard Pas has been making challenging work for more than two decades and this recent body of work continues his practice of investigating what he sees as our "common circumstance." Essayists Vince Cherniak and Cannon Hersey are to be commended for their catalogue essays which bring unique perspectives to our understanding of Gerard's work. The support of the City of London, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts through their Programming Assistance Program, is critical to the activities of our museum as it allows us to bring this manner of exhibition programming to the museum public and for this we are very grateful.

LRAHM staff are also to be commended for the efforts in bringing this project to realization particularly preparation staff Peter Hillborg, Bob Osthoff and Scotty Hamer who have done a commendable job installing the exhibition. Thanks also go out to Bob Ballantine, Graphic Designer; Becky Boughner, Curatorial Assistant; Barry Fair, Registrar; Cydna Mercer, Head of Programs.

Most of all, thanks go to Gerard Pas for his generosity in making this exhibition a reality. Gerard has been involved in every aspect of this exhibition's conception and implementation and is to be commended for his diligence and insights, as well as his impressive body of work. It is a remarkable accomplishment.
